December 7, 2010 Poetry Pot Luck… my entry…
Stress abounds in my life right now… but here is my contribution to the Poetry Pot Luck:
I choose the theme of wonder from the list…
Return to this Mirror
I stand again and face myself
always I return to this mirror
to look at myself and to see if I see any scars
I am beginning to feel like Dorian
having gone to rummaging through attics and locked rooms
for the portrait that must truly be me
I have yet to see
life is cruel and won’t let me be
never to find it
never the truth to my answers will I heed

this is powerful, dark and deep…I’ve been there, not a good place to be but you describe it perfectly.

I could feel for you…I mean I could relate here…
At this moment in my life, I feel so down, dunno where to pick up some scattered pieces…
I could not even pen a poem…so maybe, I will miss potluck this week… 😦
Short but powerful piece Chris!!!

To be or not to be like Dorian – thats the question eh 🙂
Well given a chance everyone would like to be the Dorian with the portrait, but hopefully not get carried away with the all the magic like he did. I would like my portrait to just show the age..the creases and nothing else. I deviate though from the poem.
It was very good.

Nice piece def felt your feelings in this piece…Life is never perfect but we have to accept the road we travel and keep looking up. We need to look not in ourselves but through ourselves so that we can see what is coming our way. See we can always change ourselves but we can not change what lies ahead. Keep your spirits high my friend

well-well, mr. Dorian 🙂 you’ve got quite a gem of introspection here! i like the idea of mirror – kinda makes me think of “mirror-mirror on the wall” 🙂

Intriguing that what is reflected in the mirror is not always what’s reflected in our soul.
Really enjoyed this poem.

“i look into her eyesand it is me that i see
staring back at me”
This is always the case in situations such as these, isn’t it?
You gave life to a situation experienced by so many. Well written.

Sometimes the search for answers IS the answer. Some people go through life simply accepting or completely unaware. Embrace the need to find answers. It is a gift! Very nice poem!!
